Obituary for Lucas Kayne Taylor

LUCAS KAYNE TAYLOR
October 1, 1988 – July 23, 2019

With the greatest sadness, our family shares that we lost our beloved Lucas Taylor on July 23, 2019.

He was a sensitive, caring young man who touched the heart of all who met him. He was a gentle soul. Through his struggles, he remained the loving, sensitive man he’d always been.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. Lucas later moved and claimed his home in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

We have many fond memories of boating, camping and fishing as a family together.

Graduating from Pellissippi State College with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing, Luke’s creative and artistic talent shined as a member of Future Business Leaders of America when he opened Tufa Garden Art presenting his creations of hyper tufa pottery and art at art festivals, garden centers and seasonal celebrations around Knox and Anderson Counties where he enjoyed meeting and talking with new friends, a talent that came naturally to him.

Lucas loved being Ambassador for The Knoxville Dogwood Arts Festival for many years where you would have found him as Dogwoody, dressed as a loveable big puppy (he was that) enjoying the hugs of children and adults alike during public appearances in promotion of the festival.

He was always a hard worker and always ready to lend a hand. You may have met him working at Big Ed’s Pizza, taking care of the elderly, landscaping your yard or fearlessly climbing to great, scary heights to cut down that threatening limb hanging over your house. Lucas was known for his excellent work ethic and for being a gentleman.

He is preceded in death by his loving mother, Cyndi Winkels and big brother, Blaze Cassel.

Lucas cherished the unconditional love, support and guidance of his father, Richard L. Taylor; his stepfather, Ray Winkels and especially his Grandma, Mrs. Delma Winkels who he adored.

Lucas was also survived by Lucy T. & Ricardo Mejia, Amber W. Cassel, Sarah & Patrick Taylor, Melissa & John McGahee , Glenn McGahee, Jill & Frederick Taylor, Rex Winkels, Patricia & Duane Berglund, Kathy & Rod Valenta, Layla Cassel, Kristopher Cassel, Diego Mejia, Lillian Taylor, Fiona Mejia and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

In lieu of flowers, we ask you to donate to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention or to Shatterproof.
